Had my eyes on these shiny blink blink pickups from Dimarzio since a year-ish ago when they first announced the new signature models for Billy Sheehan and Les Claypool .    very catchy but never get to seen them in local store ..       until a week ago, I finally pulled the trigger when Dimarzio.com was celebrating Larry Dimarzio's bday and had the sales site wide...   oh well .. .  new toy day .. 

Soon after the recent shielding job that turned the bass dead quiet, this Japanese made 70's style bass soon became my latest fun new toy and I decided to keep it for a short while.

Here comes a different method to shield a bass cavity after shielding bass cavity with copper foil tape for a few years.

Further mods on my favourite Pbass ..     OBP-3 on board preamp was installed years ago, and the 9v battery was squeezed into the cavity...    things work ..  but replacing battery was always very difficult ..     thanks for my bass buddy Kurt for sourcing me some new toys, and it's time to mess around with the bass further ..  

Cavity Shielding

my first thought of the roland gk pickup kit was just about drilling the extra side jack for the 13pin connector and drilling a tunnel under the hex pickup to the control cavity, something that i could mess around with my dremel tool.  apparently i was totally wrong after talking to mr. george furlanettl, the luthier who makes my bass.  and
