People often see the 60s style LG line from Alleva Coppolo as their ultimate, Jimmy also makes exceptional 70s style LM line.  And when it comes to flexibility, it comes to his RA line, it’s the mixture of 60s and 70s jazz bass and has the best of both worlds.  After own/tried many of them, I’ve finally pulled the trigger and had this bass built to my specs....

I’m a long term fan of short scale bass. It’s smaller, lighter and the shorter scale length just fits my asian hand better.  My first bass was an early 2000 Ampeg AMB1 bass, bought the bass when I was like 17 years old with my first part-time salary.  As my bass adventure goes throughout the years, knowing how a bass should sounded

For a short period of time in the early 70, Fender came up with a bass that has alder body(60s) plus an all maple neck(70s) later on they started building basses with ash body, but these ‘transition’ basses had earned their reputation in bass history, the most famous one is probably Geddy Lee’s 72 jazz bass, the tuxedo.
Named after a New York bassist playing the same bass. RA is Jimmy Coppolo’s take of this special ones, and it happened to be the best of both world.

Started as recently got impressed with the bassline of the song, and transcribed it (link somewhere).  Took out my pbass with TI flat and started practicing it, got bored then switch the strings to my  8yrs old LaBella 0760M from the drawer ..  

Here comes the little brother of that special Fender Deluxe Jazz V I played early this year .   This was the famous John Suhr era Jazz bass who later started his own guitar company, their boutique killer at the time and it's still preferred by many players and highly in demand after 25+ years. 

Soon after the recent shielding job that turned the bass dead quiet, this Japanese made 70's style bass soon became my latest fun new toy and I decided to keep it for a short while.

Here comes a different method to shield a bass cavity after shielding bass cavity with copper foil tape for a few years.

Another personal bass of mine. My 2nd kbp5, a Classic Supreme in Plum Crazy finish.  and this will most likely be with me for the next short while . 

CBS sold the right to the Fender brand in 1984 and that was the end of the era, Fender later became Fender Musical Instruments Corp (FMIC). And soon after the Custom Shop was formed in 1987 starting with 2 master builders to start their high-end boutique product line and had great success til these days.

It was written backed in 2014, and I've finally had a chance to have it recorded.  Hopefully that day can always be remembered.

Myself had always been a fan of Alleva Coppolo basses.  Got obsessed years ago when I first try one and I've never looked back.  This is the instrument that ended my first stage of fancy bass adventure and decide to sit down and practice more;  Soon after the 2nd season started, of course to out beat a Coppolo bass, you'll need more Coppolo basses ..   lol ..
